Make use of longer daylight hours and milder temperatures on a trip to the Ruhr region. This modern metropolis lays in the heart of North Rhine Westphalia, the state whose economic development agency advertises as “Germany at its Best”.

Come and spend a few days in one of Germany’s great secret destinations. Discover one of Europe’s largest malls in Oberhausen or shop relative low prices on fashion items and consumer goods in Duisburg and Dortmund. Discover too, magnificent collections and well presented exhibitions in one of the many museums and art venues across the region. Or follow the “Industrial Heritage Trail” and experience recent transformation of ancient factories, mines and canals.

Utilise the dense public transport network to head out to dense woodlands, lush meadows and hills or walk for miles along the banks of the river Ruhr through areas steeped in history.
