Following legislation to ease difficulties for residents in most countries in the EU, government agencies and offices are conveniently available under a single telephone number. Most of the public agencies in the Rhine Ruhr region can be reached on 115. The system is designed to ease searches and responses required of government officials.
The organisation has specific targets. They include responding to 75% of calls within 30 seconds and resolving 55% of queries during the initial conversation. If an enquiry cannot be answered immediately, a response should be given e-mail, fax or phone within 24 hours during regular service hours.
The 115 number is in operation Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 18:00 and phone calls incurr a minimum charge. While large areas around Düsseldorf, Cologne and Duisburg as well as Bonn and Dortmund are integrated, agencies in other places need to be contacted directly. Enter such words as “Verwaltung”, “Behörde” or “Bürgeramt” in the search bar.
