The Rhine Ruhr region curves across a massive ares in the heart of the state of NRW, North Rhine Westphalia (Nord-Rhein Westphalen) located in the mid west of Germany.
There is no local government, no one representative, no coordinated approach to tackle the challenges tomorrow. The state capital is Düsseldorf where parliament resides, yet Rhine Ruhr has no capital. What it does have is almost everything the heart desires, apart from an oceanfront and tropical weather. But it does have rivers and lakes as well as some hot and humid summer days.
Expats relocating to Rhine Ruhr have made an excellent choice. People are friendly, the economy is strong, things function and the local beers taste good, as do some of the regional wines created nearby.
The list of large cities is long, yet for the purposes of Amazing Rhine Ruhr the central location and its institutions will mostly be Düsseldorf. It is not the largest place in North Rhine Westphalia but certainly a big player besides Cologne, Bonn, Essen and Dortmund.
The Rhine Ruhr region is sometimes cosmopolitan, very international, crowded and great. Each place offers its own uniqueness and variety, whether a lively town or quieter village.
