Going out in Neuss can be great fun. A variety of locations offering a healthy and delicious selection of cuisines are dotted all across town. Discover excellent coffee in one of the many bistros or tasty traditional German and international fare down one of the many small streets and alleys in Neuss.

The remodelling of the harbour has attracted a few bistros and the large selection of Turkish establishments has a long tradition here. The trend of sweet Asian beverages has also hit town.

Beer Gardens

An essentially typical German invention, the beer gardens is a perfect place to meet friends new and old. Some are open throughout the year, not only on sunny and warm days. As the name says, the most popular drink to down is a beer, but anything goes.

The remaining brewery in Neuss is known as "Im Dom" and offers beer brewed according to the so-called Reinheitsgebot (Purity Decree) from 1516, an early consumer protection initiative. Beer here is an excellent example of the local dark regional brew known as "Altbier".

Pubs in Neuss

A good few pubs in Neuss can be great places to go for both a quick drink or a lengthy night. Down-to-earth, yet very different in ambience, the drinking holes available have two things in common; fiendly locals from the neighbourhood and generous opening times.

The bistro first appeared in Paris after the Napoleonic Wars when Russian soldiers occupied the city. Known after the Russian word for quick, bistros are nowadays places to eat and drink in a much more relaxed atmosphere. A few fine places can be found in Neuss.
