Lovers of running have been gathering together early in the summer in Neuss since the 1980s to jog a distance of a few hundred metres or several kilometres. The course is laid out across the town and participants run either three loops for the five kilometres or six loops for the ten kilometres race.
Starting at four in the afternoon and ending after the last race late in the evening, the event has proven highly popular with some four thousand runners taking part. Races vary from four hundred metres for child and parent through one kilometre for school children to the longer distances for adults of all ages.
The event is watched by thousands of spectators and sponsored well by local and regional partners. Media coverage of this great happening is guaranteed and, regardless of which side of the fence anyone may be, fun is had by all. Especially the winners.
