Local specialities available in NRW

Written by Garry on

In the globalised world of foods and beverages, it comes as no surprise that the majority of produce is available in the region. It causes some discern to note that supermarkets tend not to reach the quality standards of those in some other countries since Germans don’t wish to pay the price.

On the other hand, numerous speciality stores can be found for quality foods and many Turkish dealers offer superb vegetables and meats, including halal produce.

The quality of supermarket premises has improved more recently with better lighting, more spacious aisles and better trained staff. Small ones are tucked into inner city streets, other larger ones on the periphery. Brands in the region include Aldi, Edeka, Lidl, Netto, Penny, Plus, Real, and Rewe. Organic chains include Basic and Super Bio Markt.

Kiosks

Kiosks are invaluable at certain times. Tucked into side streets or off main roads, they are able to fulfill spontaneous needs. Even though larger shops now open longer, these convenience stores normally offer drinks, alcohol, snacks and a small selection of foodstuffs.
