In Düsseldorf enthusiastic audiences can choose between several movie theatres or cinemas showing movies in original English, French, Spanish and other language versions.
The CineStar tends to screen more popular mainstream releases and blockbusters in the original version at their typically modern and lively multiplex cinema located in Heerdt.
Metropol Filmkunstkinos show mostly art house films in original with German subtitles in one of their cosy, more traditional theatres. They are the larger screen theatre Atelier, quirky Bambi with two screens, traditional and quaint Cinema, neighbourhod multiscreen Metropol and the unique Souterrain below Muggel.
The Filmwerkstatt shows a unique selection of original language movies OV or OmU. Originally founded as long ago as 1976, the non-profit group brings together film-makers. enthusiasts and students. Supported by the state of NRW, cultural department of Düsseldorf and the Filmstiftung NRW.
English language, mostly mainstream movies showing in a typical multiplex atmosphere including the popcorn. Enjoy frequent screenings in OV or OmU with modern technology including 3D. The CineStar Dusseldorf is situated in the borough of Oberkassel on the left bank of the Rhine.
Art house films in original languages with subtitles, mostly. English and other language movies that are more off stream than mainstream are on offer in the cinemas run by Düsseldorfer Filmkunstkinos. Films are shown in OV or OmU in any one of their five cosy and intimate theatres.
