East and west traditions complement each other

Eastern and western traditions complement each other in Beijing and China in general. The most important time of year is Chinese New Year, with millions travelling home for the celebrations.

Other important dates naturally include January 1: New Year; March or April: Good Friday and Easter Monday; December 25: Christmas Day; December 26: Boxing Day.


Most expats believe in the Easter bunny. Some enjoy cracking their chocolate Easter eggs, while others love to colour those laid by hens. They can be either hollowed out while raw or previously boiled. In many countries fun is had with a ritual of hiding eggs for happy children to discover.
